Me, Myself and Libraries: Writing for Wellbeing

Have you ever had an interest in writing and reading for wellbeing?

Perhaps you’ve kept a journal and let it lapse. Perhaps you’ve always felt there was something you wanted to say but weren’t sure how to say it.

Perhaps you’ve read something that felt like it was written just for you, and wondered what it would feel like to write something like that yourself.

Using Darlington Library’s collections as our starting point, we’ll work through a series of gentle, guided writing exercises designed to unlock your creativity and help you find your own voice on the page.

We’ll write in shapes. We’ll tell the story of a life through a recipe. We’ll use the library’s resources as prompts and invitations, not to produce perfect writing, but to see what comes up when you give yourself permission to begin!

You’ll leave with writing you made in the session, a reading journal you’ve already started, and the chance to have your work included in a display here at the library afterwards.

No reading or writing experience needed. Just a curiosity about what writing might do for you.
