George Stephenson: Tribulations, Trials and Triumphs
As part of the 200th anniversary celebrations of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, the critically acclaimed novel Mr Stephenson’s Regret by author and playwright David Williams has been republished in an anniversary edition by Wild Wolf. David has also written a stage play Geordie, which is scheduled for 6 premiere performances in Stockton by Cliffe Theatre in November. David appears at the Festival to talk about and read from both novel and play, with particular focus on the personal relationships that underpin the fascinating story of the making of the world’s first public railway
