Award-winning romantic novelist Mike Gayle discusses his writing career with local writer Laura Degnan.
A former journalist and agony uncle, Mike became a full-time novelist after publishing his Sunday Times top ten bestseller My Legendary Girlfriend. His debut was hailed by the Independent as ‘full of belly laughs and painfully acute observations.’ Since then, he has written seventeen novels, including The Man I Think I Know, Richard and Judy Book club pick Half a World Away, All The Lonely People and The Museum of Ordinary People. His books have been translated into more than thirty languages. In 2021, Mike was the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Romantic Novelists’ Association.
Laura Degnan is a freelance writer and community filmmaker based in Middlesbrough. She runs Writers’ Block North East, a writing development organisation that supports aspiring novelists towards publication.
