Meet YA Author Savita Kalhan

Young writers aged 13 to 22 are invited to join award-winning children’s author Savita Kalhan for an exciting talk about her thrilling novels, followed by a writing workshop. Savita has been nominated for the Carnegie Medal twice. Her books explore themes of friendship, family and empathy, boundaries and respect, as well as culture clash and identity. In That Asian Kid, Jeevan faces a moral dilemma with a racist teacher. The Girl in the Broken Mirror is about a girl struggling to piece her life back together after a terrible trauma. The Long Weekend is a tense thriller about two boys who get into the wrong car after school and don’t realise their mistake until it is too late. The ticket price includes refreshments.
